Three ejections against St. Louis
By Kim Hee-Joon Reporter = New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone was ejected for the fifth time this season before the first half was over.
Boone was ejected in the top of the third inning of the 2023 Major League Baseball (MLB) World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri, U.S., on March 3 (Korea time) for protesting a strike call.
Boone’s frustration came in the top of the third inning, when DJ LeMahieu was batting with the bases loaded and the score tied at 0-0. After the umpire called a strike on a five-pitch high fastball on a 3-ball-1 pitch count, Boone vented his frustration in the dugout.
LeMahieu, who was able to get a grounder, retired on a double play.
The next at-bat for Glavier Torres, the umpire called a fastball a strike and Boone booed from the dugout.
When Boone raised his voice, umpire Dan Merzel ordered him ejected, and after being ejected, Boone left the dugout and argued with Merzel.카지노사이트
This was Boone’s fifth ejection of the season, following his ejections on April 13 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, May 16 against the Toronto Blue Jays, May 22 against the Cincinnati Reds, and May 26 against the Baltimore Orioles. That’s more than any other manager in MLB’s 30 clubs this year.
It is the 31st ejection of his career since taking over as Yankees manager in 2018.
Sixth most among active managers, behind Bruce Bochy of the Texas Rangers (80), Bob Melvin of the San Diego Padres (58), Terry Francona of Cleveland (47), Buck Showalter of the New York Mets (36) and Bud Black of the Colorado Rockies (35).
