Yang Hyun-jong ‘makes Korean baseball history’, ties record for most starts…Kia wins 6th straight to clinch 5th place

Tiger Legion’s left-handed ace Yang Hyun-jong (35-KIA) made baseball history.

Yang pitched seven innings of one-hit ball with three strikeouts and two walks against SSG in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at SSG Landers Field in Incheon. After taking the mound in the eighth inning with a 6-0 lead, Yang became the winning pitcher as his team won 10-2.

He now has 164 career wins. Yang moved into sole possession of first place on the all-time wins list, surpassing Song Jin-woo (163).

All but two of Yang’s 166 career wins have come in starts. Song Jin-woo holds the all-time record for wins (210) with 47 in relief.

On this day, Yang Hyun-jong pitched seven innings on 98 pitches. He gave up an infield hit to Choi Ji-hoon and a single to Guillermo Heredia in left field, but did not allow a run. Yang is now 7-0 with a 4.06 ERA this season.

The KIA bats also helped the Aces by pounding out 14 hits, including three home runs. In the top of the third inning, Park Chan-ho singled, stole second and Kim Do-young doubled, and Na Sung-beom followed with a two-run single to make it 2-0.

In the fourth inning, Socrates Brito led off with a single and Park Chan-ho followed with a two-run homer. Na Sung-beom went 4-for-5 with a home run and five RBIs, while table-setters Park Chan-ho and Kim Do-young each had three hits and three RBIs.토토사이트
