A new coach meets the players. With Swedish coach Henrik Signell at the helm, the South Korean women’s national handball team is in full swing.
The Korea Handball Association (KHA) announced the schedule for the women’s national team’s strengthening training. Twenty-two members have been called up for the first training session of the ‘Signel Ho’.
The women’s national team gathered at the Jincheon Athletic Village in Chungcheongbuk-do on June 18, and all 22 members have been assembled. The team will continue to train until June 20. It is the first training of the year.
According to the Korean Handball Association, the squad includes many players who played at the last Asian Championship. Park Sae-young (Samcheok City Hall), Osara (Gyeongnam Development Corporation), Jung Jin-hee (Seoul Metropolitan Government), Shin Eun-joo (Incheon Metropolitan Government), Cho Soo-yeon (Seoul Metropolitan Government), Cho Soo-yeon (LW), Lee Im-kyung (Busan Facilities Corporation), Jung Ji-in (Omron, Japan), Kang Eun-seo (Samcheok City Hall), Song Ji-young (Seoul Metropolitan Government), Kang Eun-hye (SK Sugar Gliders), Kim Bo-eun (Samcheok City Hall), and Kim Sora (Gyeongnam Development Corporation) are the 13 returning players.
They are joined by Park Jo-eun (GK, Gwangju City Corporation), who played in the 2022-23 SK Handball Korea League, which ended on July 7, Kim Min-seo (CB, Samcheok City Hall), who was named Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player (MVP), Yoon Ye-jin (LW, Seoul Metropolitan Government), and Jeon Jeon-yeon (RW, Samcheok City Hall), who were named to the season’s BEST 7.스포츠토토
Kim Sun-hwa, Kim Hee-jin (Daegu Metropolitan City Hall), and Shin Shin-mi (Busan Facilities Corporation), who played equally well on offense and defense, will also be training with the national team for the first time this year. Signell arrived with two coaches and met with the players for the first time.
The first stop for Signel will be the Asian Qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in Japan from August 17-23. The team will then compete at the Hangzhou Asian Games in September.
