‘Neuroscience’ appears in psychological issues…’Last place’ Kim Byung-soo “Status quo doesn’t change easily, you have to be patient”

Suwon Samsung head coach Kim Byung-soo, who is in the midst of a four-game losing streak, emphasized patience by referring to a new field: brain science.

Suwon hosts Incheon United in the 18th round of the Hana OneQ K League 2023 on Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. at Suwon World Cup Stadium.

The bottom-placed Suwon (W2 D2 L13 D17) must end a four-game losing streak on the day before the A-Match break. Incheon are unbeaten in their last five matches (W1 D4 L4) and are narrowly out of the relegation zone in ninth place (W4 D7 L6 D17) and will be hoping to go into the break with a win against Suwon.

Suwon have failed to rebound since Kim’s arrival and are bottom of the table on regular-season return points.

They need a win against Incheon to go into the A-League break on a positive note, and they also need a win against FC Seoul to set up a supermatch right after the break.

When asked about Mulicic’s early return to the bench, Kim told the media before the match, “It’s not a comeback. He’s been recovering from his injury a little bit, and I can’t confirm his overall condition yet,” Kim said, adding, “Mulicic is the only substitute for Ahn Byung-joon just in case. So we’re ready.”

“Jeon Jin-woo was injured and Lee Jong-sung rotated with Han Seok-jong,” Kim said, “It’s good that the injured players are back now, but I’m worried about the physical discharge.”

After suffering their fourth straight loss against Gwangju, Kim was seen shaking his head. “Before Gwangju, I thought we could have gotten enough points against Jeju and Suwon FC, so I’m disappointed in that part. Even one point would have energized us, but a strange phenomenon happened and we didn’t get a point, so it’s hard for the players mentally and hard for me to manage the team.”

When asked what he said to the players to help them mentally, he specifically mentioned the field of brain science.

“There are a lot of books in the field of brain science these days, so I’ve been studying them,” Kim said, “and there are a lot of things that make sense to understand the players’ condition better.”

“To put it simply, it’s hard to change in a short period of time. I learned that it takes a lot of effort to move on to a new self, a new me. Usually, people always have the same thoughts, experiences, behaviors, feelings, and repeat them. It doesn’t change. I think that’s true.”스포츠토토

“It’s not something that can happen in a short period of time, so I think we have to be more patient and work harder, and I think it will motivate us if the next injured person comes back quickly and creates the best power to win,” he emphasized.

The two-week A-Match break is also a short one for Kim. “Actually, we don’t have time to refine (our defensive organization). You have to rest for three days, recover for three days, then it’s a week, and then you have to prepare for the game, so there’s not much time,” he said.

“I think the problem on defense is that we make crucial mistakes, so we need to pay more attention to our concentration,” he added.
