Malcolm Thomas from KBL leaves Samara, Russia… “Termination of the contract at the request of the player”

Malcolm Thomas from KBL has left Russia.

Russian VTB United League BC Samara reported on the official website on the 20th (local time) that Thomas had left.

According to a number of Russian media, including Samara, it was revealed that this contract was terminated at Thomas’ request.

Thomas joined Samara in August 2022 and averaged 11.8 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steals over 13 games in the 2022-23 season. The field goal success rate is 64.8%, and the 3-point shot success rate is 44.4%. 스포츠토토

Samara said: “We thank Thomas for his time at the club and wish him the best of luck in his future.”

Thomas is a familiar face even to KBL fans. He played the 2011-12 season with Ulsan Mobis and averaged 20.8 points, 10.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.6 steals and 2.8 blocks in 17 games.

Thomas did not play for a long time in KBL. In the one-person, one-man participation system, Thomas’ physical fitness issue caught Mobis’ ankle. He also exposed several problems, including an error in the fourth quarter, and was eventually replaced by Terrence Leder. Mobis expected a synergistic effect after Ji-Hoon Ham, who was in the management position, was discharged, but it was difficult to accompany Thomas.

However, at the time, Thomas was a rookie who went straight to KBL after graduating from college. He was bound to be immature in every way. It’s different now. He has become a veteran who has experienced all kinds of battles while building his career in the G-League, NBA, and Europe.
