Hanwha’s Tuckman has 3-hit blast in 2 years since returning to ML…batting .333, OPS .842

Outfielder Mike Tuckman (33-Chicago Cubs), who played for the Hanwha Eagles in the KBO last year, had a three-hit game in his second year in the majors.

Tuckman started in the seventh spot in the lineup and went 4-for-4 with a double and a run scored in the Cubs’ 2023 Major League Baseball home game against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday (Sept. 29) at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois.

In his first at-bat against Cincinnati right-hander Graham Ashcraft in the second inning, he lined a fastball up the middle for a single. With runners on first and third, Patrick Wisdom followed with a three-run homer to cut the Cubs’ lead to 3-2.

With the bases loaded in the fourth inning, Turkman drove a low four-seam cutter from Ashcraft over the third baseman for a single to left.

With one out in the sixth, he took a low slider from right-hander Lucas Sims for an infield hit. Sims threw to a slow grounder, but couldn’t make the catch, and Tuckman reached base for the third straight at-bat.

The Cubs lost 5-8, but Tuckman made his presence felt with his first three-hit game since returning to the majors. It’s been two years and one month (760 days) since he had a three-hit game against the Colorado Rockies on April 29, 2021, when he was a member of the San Francisco Giants.스포츠토토

In his one year in the KBO last year with Hanwha, Tuckman batted .258 (166-for-575) with 12 home runs, 43 RBI, 19 doubles, 64 walks, 104 strikeouts, a .366 on-base percentage, a .430 slugging percentage and a .796 OPS in 144 games. Despite his contributions on defense and the basepaths, he was not re-signed due to his lack of power for a foreign hitter and poor decision-making at the plate.

He then signed a minor league deal with the Cubs to try and make it back to the big leagues. Cody Bellinger’s knee injury earned him a call-up on April 20, and in nine games, he’s batting 3-for-3 (8-for-24) with one home run, five doubles, six walks, a .467 on-base percentage, a .375 slugging percentage and an .842 OPS.
