‘13.93 billion transfer’ earned 600 million a week… but considering retirement after ’76 games and 7 goals’

Real Madrid’s Eden Hazard, 32, is considering retirement.

“Azar is considering ending his career after Real Madrid terminated his contract,” the British publication The Daily Mail reported on Aug. 8.

“Azar, who earns £400,000 (about 600 million won) a week, ended his contract with Real Madrid early. He is looking at retirement,” the report added.

“He has also called time on his national team career after the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.”

Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo said, “Azar wants to remain at Madrid after his retirement. He has been contemplating retirement in recent days.”

Azar joined Real Madrid from Chelsea in the 2019 winter transfer window. Real Madrid invested heavily in him with just one year left on his contract. The transfer fee was a whopping €100 million (approximately $139.3 billion). They gave him the number 7 shirt worn by the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo and had high hopes for him.

As expected, his dominance of the English Premier League (PL) faded. He was plagued by injuries throughout his career. In total, he managed just seven goals and 12 assists in 76 games in a Real Madrid shirt. This season, he has just one goal and two assists in 10 games. He started only two of the six La Liga matches.

His frequent injuries limited his time on the pitch, and when he did play, he was out of form. He hasn’t played more than 25 games since his move to Real Madrid.스포츠토토

Eventually, he and the club agreed to terminate his contract early, even though there was still a year left on it. On June 4, Real Madrid released an official statement saying, “The club has decided to release Azar from the team as of June 30, 2023. “We would like to express our affection for Azhar and wish him and his family the best of luck,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, according to reports, Azhar has received interest from the US MLS and Saudi Arabia. “There is no decision on his retirement yet,” the outlet noted.
